Why do YouTube videos play in such low quality on the ATV? Is this just because the app needs to be updated or is it something else? The same videos I play on my chromecast are in HD but on the ATV they are like 480.

On AirPlay from my iPad to ATD I also get full HD. I guess Google just doesn't want anyone to use YouTube on ATV. 🙂

My YouTube AppleTV picture quality is great. Sometimes it can be pretty bad but that's generally a slow network issue and is very rare.

If you're interested in streaming YouTube directly (i.e. deflecting the incoming stream directly to aTV, without screen mirroring), check out the ClickToFlash plugin for Safari:

Rock solid. My only complaint: aTV IP address needs manual configuration. No Bonjour support.
