so i expect the new MBP's to be either meaningless speed bumps (RAM/HD) or Santa Rosa with a price increase.
Why on Earth would there be a price increase?
Apple loves the fact that they can add a myriad of new improved stuff and maintain their very carefully chosen pricepoints. I know the price of the mini went up with a move to intel, but that was warranted, since the replacement completely obliterated its predecessor performance wise.
Apple may fart on tuesday, think secret has learned.
If Apple doesn't fart on tuesday, the gas will start to back up and they will eventually fart at some point.
What's unclear right now is when it comes time for Apple to fart, we don't know if they will fart twice or fart three times. If they fart three times, that would be nice. It would also be nice if they fart on Tuesday. That would make our guessing good. But if they don't fart on tuesday, and no one smells it on tuesday, then we still cant be wrong because we said apple would fart "as early as tuesday."
We have no specs on the fart, or even the size of the fart (15 inchers or 17 inchers). The only thing we know is that ONCE BEANS GO IN -> GAS MUST COME OUT!
So. ThinkSecret believes Apple will fart at some point this month but we have no idea if it will be 2 farts, three farts, if it will smell like poo or if it will be big.

Hmmm...
Geforce 8700M for the new MBPs???
Dammit, I can't wait anymore! Steve, if you're reading this, please send me a personal message! I'm Begging You! Please tell me the specs of the Santa Rosa Macbook Pro!
An 8700m would be great. I won't buy anything with the 8600gt. I'm hoping on an apple machine with at least an 8700. Desktop or laptop
The 7600GT is a small bump over the X1600. It's not as great as going to the Radeon HD or 8 Series though. There's no such thing as a Geforce 8700, and a Geforce 7600GT would be a big upgrade from what their notebooks use now, let alone an 8600GT.

...the 7600GT is just a higher clocked 7600 which would fall into the same mid-range line as the X1600. It's barely newer then the X1600 line...But regardless, even a Geforce 7600GT would be a huge upgrade from the low-end part they've been sticking in there for the last year.
Hmm...no mention in the big tech sites about it anywhere, though there's a "I heard from a friend of a friend of a friend" type of post in a message board acting like one will be announced next week.

We're still talking about hardware that's over a year old...According to Tomshardware the 7600GT card in general is much better than the Radeon X1600s, 1600XTs or even the X1650 pros. I'm not sure how that would play out in mobile but its interesting nevertheless...

The card on the new 17" MPBs is a 8600, not a 8800.
Oops, did I let that slip?
And the 15"ers? Or don't you know? (assuming I believe you)
The Go 7600 GT would probably give a smallish improvement over the X1600. But I saw (can't remember where) NVIDIA presentation slides suggesting that the 8600M GT is at least twice as fast as the 7600GT. In reall games. Like 3-4 times faster in benchies.
So, the 8600M GT should perform about 3 times better than the X1600 I reckon.
Still hoping for a 512MB 8600M GT in the top 15"er. Infact, I am now gonna change my sig. I was hoping for a HD 2600, but it doesn't look like it's gonna happen.
Haven't heard anything about the lower-end models, just the high-end 17". It's only (less than) 2 days to the announcement now anyway, not long to wait.
Well, if past models are anything to go by, the top 15" and 17" have had the same specs, except for the screen, and maybe an extra USB port.
