hmmm might wait a couple of days with this one. just to make sure there are no issues. seems its probably the last update before Leopard. or second to last and is trying to wrap up bugs as much as possible.

:apple: Why on earth dose a .10 upgrade stop my usb hard drive form booting, im downloading the 10.4.9 combo upgrade hopefully that will allow me to down grade. i installed the 10.4.10 form software update then a reinstall form the 10.4.10 combo update still no usb drive.

Let the debate on what will be the release version after 10.x.99 begin...

YaY! I'm still using 10.3.9 becuase Apple wasted it's Leopard time on the iPhone. YaY!!!!!!!!!! I get to wait even longer! I couldn't be happier!!!

No, you'll have to Archive and Install to an earlier version and then run the 10.4.9 Combo updater.

The update on powerpc is a lot larger from 10.4.9server to 10.4.10 Server it is 399mb

379Mb in 8 minutes. I want your internet connection speed.

What speed is that??

Sound problem

Just installed the update and everything seems to work fine except that i get this "thump" noise similar to the noise when you switch of/sleep the computer. It's only audible when i have my external speakers plugged in.

Every time the computer needs to make a sound you can hear this noise through the speakers and then after about 30 sec. of inactivity you can hear it again. Seems like the update switched on some power saving feature of the sound card... It sounds exactly like the sound you get through the speakers when you switch on the computer and then when you switch it off.

I'm on a 15" C2D MBP. Anybody getting the same issue?

have tried using adobe's lightroom? they built a rather nice editor

Yep, sure have. Lightroom doesn't fully support the E-510/410 either. You have to convert the RAW files Olympus creates to .DNG before use.

So yeah, you can use Lightroom, just have to convert to .DNG. I want a true fix, not a workaround.

Thanks apple

Wow thanks, Steve Jobs
Now my webkit, safari, Shirra, and quicksilver aren't launching, it's always nice when improvements kill everything else.
On the plus side the Finder seems so much snappier.

If software makers used commas (10,4,10), ... it wouldn't have the same alternate connotation.

I may be wrong, but I think some Europeans would disagree with you...

Not sure if anyone else noticed this, but my Powerbook G4 turned on dock hiding when I did this update. For a split second I thought my Dock had disappeared for good!

Tomtom

"Resolves an issue in which a TomTom GO 910 may not be recognized when connected via USB to an Intel-based Mac."

Wow this is great news!
Until now I always had to start my old huge windows-machine just to copy some mp3s onto my tomtom..
I didn't install the update yet. But still.. great news! Going to try it tomorrow..:)

Ah, D40x support... finally. And yeah, Aperture does seem a little snappier.

On a related note, I have no problems with the update. Everything seems fine, though I never enjoy those loooong grey screen waits whenever system updates are installed.

Mac Pro and iMac 24" both had a 49 MB download. MacBook Pro update file was 74 MB. All three updates went fine, however, each one took 2 restarts after reboot.

Safari 3 is also faster loading pages here now. The best news is that reply, reply all and forward are all now working correctly in Mail again (they stopped working properly when I installed Safari 3 Beta last week.

No problems with firewire audio, Cubase 4, NI plugins, and many other audio related programs and plugins for those that use their Mac for professional music writing and recording.

Lets please put this numbering system to rest.

Phone numbers are often typed out 111.222.3333 in the US.Thats NOT a decimal system is it ?

OS 10 is the 10th iteration of a major change in the kernel "so to speak"
OS 10.2 is the SECOND major revision of OS 10
OS 10.3.5 --5 being the fifth iteration of the 3rd major revision of OS 10.
OS 10.4.10 is the 10th iteration of the 4th major revision of OS 10.

This is NOT the decimal system. It's the "Point" system.
Think of it as a "point" in time ;)

Thats why it's called 10 "point" 4 "point" 10.

Do You honastly think that will put this issue to rest? :D

379Mb in 8 minutes. I want your internet connection speed.

Seems lika 8Mbps or 10Mbps line.
Rather slow, I've got a 100Mbps fibre connection here at home and at full speed that would take around 35 seconds :D

Not sure if anyone else noticed this, but my Powerbook G4 turned on dock hiding when I did this update. For a split second I thought my Dock had disappeared for good!

Nope, it was just doing you a favor and turning on hiding. :) Just kidding, though of course everyone knows the Dock should have hiding enabled and always be on the left side of the screen. :D

Great RAW updates but....

It's good to see better support for RAW formats, but TIFF has been neglected big time! Where's support for multi-paged TIFF's? My camera uses them and it's a pain in the a$$ having to open them as quicktime movies rather than images!
