Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls..... it's almost hockey season!!! w00t!!!

Training camps are in full gear and the first pre-season games are coming up soon.

Last season we saw the Duck hoist the cup and I'm sure they'll want to repeat.

Free Agency wasn't to kind to the Sabres (sorry WC) nor was it too kind to my Islanders (even though they made some interesting moves).

Recently we saw the Stars create an absolutely hilarious ad campaign based off the NBA Ref Scandal. In case you missed it, it says "The Only Things Our Refs Shave Is The Ice" Very clever and very funny.

The Kings and Ducks kick off the season in London with 2 games, while the Devils finally get to open up in their new place (The Prudential Center)

It should be a great season (so long as the Rangers don't win the cup :p )

Let's Go Islanders!!!

Shut. Up.

And yes that line is going to be sick. I'm going to be out there actually for the Isles/Avalanche game on 1/5/08.

Ah, I'm envious of you. I'm in California, and won't likely make it to any games this season.

Smyth is great, but we need some more left-wingers. Our current roster shows 3 of them. 8 right siders, though. Perfect.

I may have to sit out this thread this year...or find a new team to root for.

I have season tickets to the Blues this year, and I'll be able to *walk* to the vast majority of the games. I'm so excited. Hopefully Paul Kariya has enough left in him to lead us back to the playoffs.

Some fan you are! :p

Oh, I'm still a fan...just not sure I need it rubbed in my face every time I come into this thread. :p ;)

I think we'll be okay, but we're not going to set the league on fire. Playoffs are certainly a reasonable expectation, but it's probably not going to be pretty.

Awesome! I got a 14 game package for the Isles. Good luck to your Blues this season.

i guess .... go sens?

they've got a very strong lineup again ... as the first line is probably the best line in the whole nhl again.

The Sens do have a sick first line but I don't think they'll make back to the Cup Finals again this year.

Oh sure you do! Your team took a beating like a red-headed step child. :p

I do agree, the Sabres have tough road just to make it back to the playoffs. It will be an interesting season for both of our teams.

Go Sharks! I grew up in the Bay Area and played hockey there. Sharks have always been my team. I actually went to the first regular season game the Sharks ever played, against the Calgary Flames ;) Did I say "Go Sharks!"? :D

Yep. I hope the Blues can get themselves together this season. I've always been a fan, but their last couple seasons have been dreadful and I wasn't really watching the games or anything.

I haven't actually been to a game in ages though. I may have to beg one of my friends or family members to go since I think I'm the only one who likes hockey :D

The Bruins suck even MORE now than when last season ended  Nothing positive to be said about the Causeway St. gang..Thank God for Hockey East :D

As my son has been saying since the age of 2:

Mommy likes the Sabres
Daddy likes the Rangers
and nobody likes the Islanders

Sabres are hurting, and got forced into overpaying for Vanek and others (I love Kevin Lowe). Philly got better, but overpaid for Briere. Rangers look great, but overpaid for Gomez. I would have liked to keep Nylander, too.

My prediction for Eastern playoff seeds:
1. Ottawa
2. Rangers
3. Tampa Bay
4. Pittsburgh
5. New Jersey
6. Sabres
7. Atlanta
8. Washington

Did the Avalanche make any serious moves between the pipes? Its been their achilles heel since, well, since Roy retired.

They got Theodore and Budaj, I can't really say if they'll hold up for the Avalanche.

I think my Isles have Rick DiPietro for ummm eternity.

Last season I spent a lot of time at the games in the lower bowl, 6-10 rows from the ice. We found a section where there was no usher, so we took full advantage of the lack of people.

This season should be fun. The upper bowl (i.e. individual fans) has been selling very well, from what I've heard. All they really need to do is get more corporate support. I have been pleased at the extent Dave Checketts and Co. will go to to revive hockey in this town.

And they'll probably still lose less money then Colorado is on Theodore :)

I'm worried about this year, the Canucks really didn't do anything ... I sure hope they have something up their sleeve. We're not going anywhere without some more scoring.

Since everyone team got new uniforms this year, I figure I'd post them here.
