I picked up my MBP last week in the refurb store for 1650 Canadian.

I think it was probably $1599 in the US store?

15" Core 2 duo 2.53 (6mb L2 cache) 4gb DDR3, 320gb HD and a 9600Gt with 512MB DDR3.

I would imagine when the new ones come out, you could pick this one up for like 1399-1499. But they might even have enough to sell any longer... it's the last model with the express card slot, and tons of people seem to actually care about that..

that's your best bet for something around 1500 with a good graphics card.

Does anyone know if the MBP will look any different than it does now?
i mean physical appearances.

Dudes, i'm freaking out!
I don't have a MBP yet, the new MBP line has yet to be announced and I already selected all the nifty utilities that are going to replace the ones that I'm using on Windows...
Help! Somebody heal me please!

There was a rumor news here on macrumors.

In June, 6 and 12 core MacPro along with a new Apple Cinema Display 27 should appear.

Pretty late :( I hope that's not true

The rumor said BY June, not IN June. I'm betting for a release of at least the Mac Pro sooner.

I'll be happy if its just price cut or a rise in hard drive size, I don't need the intel i5 core:cool:

Then you should buy it used or refurbished from Apple right now. There's nothing drastically new in terms of HDD other than that standard height 750GB and 12.5mm 1TB laptop drive. Both of which you can put in after market.

They'll bump the ram and hdd size as well as add new processors.

Price drops shouldn’t be expected but I'm hoping for another drop in price for the macbook air.

SSD vs Hard Drive

Is it worth decreasing from a 640 GB hard drive to a sub 260 GB SSD??? Wondering, since I'm getting macbook pro soon.

Europe

can someone tell me how long are we supposed to wait in Europe for the MBPs update after it happens in the US?

Thanks

An upgrade from AluBook

I have a 17" AluBook which is now 6 years old. I love the machine, and will probably leave it to my son for playing and learning. However, is it worth waiting for the new laptops? I remember 6 years ago people were waiting for Apple to upgrade its laptops with a G5 processor but that never happened. I didn't wait for a G5 laptop then, but purchased that what was available. Is this time any different than before?

This time it IS different. I'm waiting and waiting and waiting.: I'm betting it will be worth the wait. :)

Yes.

Yes it is. This time there will be Arrandale-based laptops. Really. Someday.

I really wish Apple had a refurbished store for Thailand. :(

I'm hoping for simultaneous global release, but that's probably wishful thinking. I'm in the same boat.

I live in India. I wanted to get a Macbook Pro for myself. My previous mbp had a logic board problem. The Apple Store here had a shortage of Macbook Pros in March itself (they had only 1 piece)

I called them today to see if they have any pieces left and they mentioned that they didn't and that they aren't expecting any new Macbook Pros till May. I asked them if it was because of some new models and he said yes.

I wouldn't take that as a 100% assurance that we will have new Macs, but it appears to be a good possibility.

I wouldn't be surprised if it takes May for the new Macs to India if the actual release happens in April, because they would first be sent to larger markets (U.S.)

Apples website is down its 1:34 mtn time. common new mbp's!

2:10 MTN time and the Apple Store is up and running... Never noticed that it went down, but it could have for a short period - don't notice anything new though. I highly doubt new MBP's would be released today... maybe next Tuesday, but the OS4.0 preview event wouldn't be related to some kind of hardware update.

My iMac does indeed have a desktop C2D.

According to iFixit it is the E7600 which is an LGA 775 (socket T) processor.

The iMac has been growing bigger over time. Now can't get anything smaller than 21.5 inches. That used to be the size of the "large" version at one point in the iMac evolution. As the minimum iMac volume has gotten bigger the desktop processors have crept in. More room to stick in more fans in and separate the CPU and GPU so can dissipate the increase in heat.
That's one reason why the Core i versions spitting out 95W are restricted to the 27" model.

What the iMac has tended not to have is the upper edge desktop processors that were over 80W or the 'extreme' 130W monsters either.
Now just have more room. Have 4 memory slots too. That helps for some quad core loads too because have enough memory to keep 4 cores happy.
