    We just added an Airport Extreme to hopefully increase our wifi speeds (and actually stay connected which we couldn't do before). We have a modem through Brighthouse (our cable provider). Our Airport is connected with ethernet to the modem. The Wifi is turned off on the Brighthouse modem...
