jailbreak is base on firmware. So, you need to provide more info. If your phone is on OS5, then it is tethered. However, if it is on 5.0.1, then it is untethered.
its on ios5.01. what else do you need to know?

jailbreak it with redsn0w 0.9.10b3 and you will have untethered jailbreak. However, you can't unlock it at all.
Double check that. I think if your baseband from iOS 4 is preserved, you actually can use GeveySim. I know that at least ultrasn0w will NOT work, however.

On his opening thread, he indicated he has 04.11 baseband. So, his phone can't be unlocked at all.
