am i right in thinking that this is not able to be jailbroken untethered?

What type of device? Btw google would be faster. Try Tge Dev-team blog and Iclarified for tutorials.

Double check that. I think if your baseband from iOS 4 is preserved, you actually can use GeveySim. I know that at least ultrasn0w will NOT work, however.
 
any idea why mail.app wont display anything now that ive jailbroken?
and why cydia is a blank icon that wont open?

never mind, a hard reset fixed this problem.

On his opening thread, he indicated he has 04.11 baseband. So, his phone can't be unlocked at all. 🙂
