08 MacBook pro 2.4 15 vs Refurbish MacBook pro 13.3

Hey guys what do u think is a better deal and MacBook.
The 08 15 in has apple care till 2/12.
It also has a 500g hard drive. I can get the 15 for 1000$. Or shoul I get the refurbish 13.3
And lose the 15 in screen.

A 10/2008 MBP is quite a good machine, but 1000 USD seems a bit much, even Mac2Sell (known for overpricing used items) thinks it is worth only 880 USD.

The 2010 MBP is a better deal, unless you really need 1440 x 900 pixel on the road. What about refurbished 15" MBPs?

Im Gonna Use It Pretty Much For Web Surfing, Use Xp Home On Vm.
Download Movies And Games. Hook It Up To My Hdmi Lcd Tv.
No Big Into Games. Burn Dv, So Pretty Basic Stuff.
I Really Like The 15 In Screen, But I Dont Want To Spend Over
1000 Or So. I Figured The 08 Macbook Pro Was A Good Deal.
It Still Has Apple Care For A 1 Year Or So. Im Looking For The
Best Reliabilty. I Had A Macbook 2.0 That Has Lastest A Good 3 And Half Yrs And It Still Runs Very Well.

I have the same 08 15" mbp (original unibody) and love it. You probably won't even need to boot into the 9600 given what you said you use it for. You only need it if your playing games etc. The harddrive and battery are incredibly accessible through a latch door. I don't think I would be happy working on a 13" screen and the speakers on the small boy suck.

If price is a real issue then I would suggest meeting with the owner and sitting down in a coffee shop for a good 15 minutes while you inspect the machine and check it out. Download coconut battery onto it and check the battery life. If its low maybe you could get him to drop the price as a replacement is 149$ Also turn the machine on and off and put it to sleep etc. a few times to make sure it boots reliably. Look for dents that may have indicated a drop. Look for dead pixels. Check out the harddrive. Maybe ask for the original if it's a replacement.

i love my 08 unibody! I decided to go with it over the new mbp and glad i mad the decision. you wont regret it....its worth it

Can I Use System Profile For The Battery Cycles To Check If The
Battery Is Ready To Go Out? Does Apple Care Cover The Battery?
And Thats True About The Speakers. The 13.3 Has Weak Speakers.

I bought the late 2008 first unibody macbook pro. for the price you getting it, go for the 15.
It has express card, you can change the battery and hard drive easily without opening the interior of the machine.
You get the dedicated 9600m gt whenever you need it.
the 15 inch is more beautiful, that's my opinion.

after almost 2 years owning the machine, it makes people go WooW when the see it.
you will not have the 10 hours battery life but you can buy another battery change it on the go easily.
plus it has applecare 2/12.
