I have two 09 Mac Minis both configured to restart automatically after a power failure. Recently when I had a power failure neither of them did.

I recently had the early 09 Mini repaired just before the Apple Care ran out. The optical drive was replaced. Could they have messed with something which caused the Mini to fail to reboot automatically after a power failure?

Edit: should add that manually powering on the Minis worked fine.

Re 09 Mac Mini failed to restart after power failure

There is a bug that prevents the mini from powering back on if the power is cut during the boot up sequence. If your power had gone out, then come back on, then back off in the ~1minute or so when the machine was booting up, then it would not boot a 3rd time without manually pressing the power button.

After pressing the power button, and booting fully, it should then boot after power failure in the future unless the same thing happens again.

Thanks for that. That could be it. A new meter was installed so I guess it's possible they could have turned the power on and off in a short space of time.
