1,1 --> 3,1 is it worth it?

Hi all

Got the opportunity to go from 1,1 to 3,1 for around $500.

Is it worth the upgrade?


You get the extra 4 cores, the slightly upped memory and bus speeds, more expandable graphics. Would you all say this is a good upgrade for the money?

Thought so, I was going to get a couple of quads for the 1,1 anyway and that would have come to like $500 🙂

I did this jump about a year and a half ago, for around the same price, and it was a huge jump in performance, and also made it far easier to upgrade video cards and other components. That has changed now that the 5770 is compatible with the 1,1, but it's still a good deal. The 2008 MPs are holding up really well compared to even the newest models.
