iPod touch 1.1.3 Jailbreak Status

Apple part numbers MA623LL/A and MA627LL/A are the "old" one. You'll see pics of Macy Gray, Corinne Bailey Rae, or John Lennon on the box. So those are either 1.0 or 1.1.1 or 1.1.2...
If the part number ends in LL/B, it's a new 1.1.3 model.
Also, the new one will have pictures of iPod touch with all the new apps installed (ie: Mail, Stocks, Weather...)
Not sure who the music artist on the box will be, though.
Or, rather, "all the iPods you buy now that have recently been made," you mean. I just bought an 8gb Touch from Best Buy yesterday and it's 1.1.2. I guess it has been sitting around a little bit.
I just got a 16gb on Amazon that will be delivered tomorrow but I'm expecting it to be 1.1.2 as well -- it will not have the programz on it, so sayz the Amazon page. We shall see.
(iPods are about $50 cheaper on Amazon than at Best Buy right now. So I'm taking mine from BB back.)
If you bought an iPod touch any time after December 27, 2007, the new apps will be free of charge for you. But you need to contact an Apple representative and notify them about it. This is information someone said on ipodtouchfans.com claiming that when he called phone support, they told him that if he got his iPod after the 27th, the apps are free with the 1.1.3 upgrade.
So if this information is correct, you shouldn't have a problem worrying if you have to pay or not. But don't quote me on it, I have not confirmed it to be true yet, but you an check if you call Apple Support.

Just called the Apple store, they said instead of giving the update for free, there just gonna change the old stocked ipod touch's to 279$, and next week, when the new stock arrives w/update, there gonna change it back to 299$. Thats only if you buy it from the retail store.
I know if you upgrade your jailbroken iPod that you will lose the 3rd party apps but what I like to know is will you lose your custom GUI settings? I don't care about losing the apps because I mostly use the iphone apps anyway but if I lose my black/crimson GUI, well then I will keep with my current iPod. Majority of my time is in safari and I just love the look of it.

the new ipods will have a factory restore right which contains the apps. my question how does itunes know the facotry restore setting for the ipod? is there a way to fool it into thinking an older ipod touch is a newer ipod touch upon doing a factory restore?
I'm fairly sure that you'd lose it :/
My advice would just be to sit tight and wait for the jailbreak.
Thats not true, how do they update plastic sealed boxes already in their stores before 1.1.3 was even created?😕

It's their business and im sure they have their way to go around it. Like statistic says how many ipods are sold monthly in this store and they only make "that many" of ipods for the month... get the idea ?!
i no this is a bit off topic but, last night my ipod just crapped itslef i was in installer.app and i couldnt get out of the instaler so i just restarted my ipod and now its just stuffed i ca connect to computer or anything. hope it doesnt happen forever😡
EDIT: Great it just keeps happening. Please if anyone know to fix please let me know. i cant take it back. i would have wasted $500 AUD.
EDIT 2: So if i can't fix my ipod ill like to post a warning saying jailbreaking your ipod can wreck your ipod.
EDIT 3: alright my i let my ipod die and now i am charging it. i wil let everyone know what happenes. If it works i have learnt my lesson lol.

This happened to me a few months ago. I ended up just trying different button sequences between the home button and the sleep button. I can't remember exactly what it was that fixed it, but it seems like i had to hold down the sleep button for a while and then i think i held down the home button. My ipod then displayed the image telling me to connect to itunes... i was then able to restore.
I CAN use my ipod for like 5 seconds and then it has the icon when you install aps and you exit the installer and because i have ants it shows really really really long snake like ants then it goe off and on again i dont think it is going to work.

That's the first time I've ever really seen that happen. Like someone else said, hold down the sleep and Home button until it reboots and then carry on holding the Home button and then you can reconnect it to iTunes and restore to 1.1.3 or whatever you want.
And at Heather1, the week makes no difference, it's more likely to be with firmware, software installed, hacks made etc etc
No luck. See the problem is i can't even connect it to itunes. i guess i am just stuck with it. because i can't take back. My fault i gues.🙁
EDIT: I have some hope. My iPod seems to want to work and it's working better than before. I will consider myself luckly if i get out of this one.

EDIT 4: Sorry if i am going on and on but if your where in this suitation you would aswell. When my ipod make the rotating circle like it does after you exit the installer it changes summerboard icons. i am seriously starting to get pissed off.

all is not lost
its a pretty simple process to fix your iPod/iPhone if it crashes. Its called recovery mode. You have to hold down both buttons to reset it and then while holding the home button plug it into iTunes to turn it back on in recovery mode. Just keep holding home till it says connect to iTunes on the iPod. This does not boot the iPod fully and hopefully it will fix the problem (it ptobably will. Same thing happened to me with iPhone) you should then see iTunes saying it detected an iPod in recovery mode and it must be restored. At this point you can either restore to 1.1.3 or try to jailbreak it again with 1.1.1

Nope didnt work.
EDIT: thank you so much man i tried it again with it plugged in and it worked thank you very much. I am going to get 1.1.3 cause i dont want to go down to 1.1.1 and start over (well not for now anyway) and i dont want to go through all that again.
