1.1.3 update problems

I'm curious if anyone else has had the same problem. Just bought my iPhone this week and updated iTunes to 7.6. iTunes said that 1.1.3 was available for the iPhone, so I downloaded it. Now, everytime I sync my iPhone, it says "do you want to update iPhone?" I'll click yes, it'll unpack the files, then say "preparing iPhone for install", work for a little while, then say an unknown error occured and then my iPhone will disappear from iTunes. I am running a Windows machine :-( but I really don't know what the problem is. Any help will be appreciated.
