I have a jailbreaked iphone and was wondering what to do about upcoming 1.1.3.

I would like to have this update - should i do a restore now to get my phone back to factory settings or will i be fine using restore when the new firmware is released?

To get 1.1.3 you'd need to downgrade (using a complete restore) to 1.1.2 unless iPhone Dev team get a new Oktoprep for 1.1.2. The thing is, no one knows how 1.1.3 will work and whether it will damage the iPhonein any way by updating a jailbroken iPhone.

Pretty much! Just plug it in, click restore and watch your entire iPod reformat itself before your very eyes!

NO ONE KNOWS what 1.1.3 will bring in terms of challenges for hackers. 1.1.1 is different than what's before it. 1.1.2 is different from 1.1.1, so it won't be surprising if 1.1.3 has different challenges!

From what's been said, it looks like you CANNOT DOWNGRADE from 1.1.3. So, don't install it if you want to keep your hacks. It's a similar situation to going to 1.1.1. when it first came out, except they've fixed more of the "holes".
iPhones upgraded to 1.1.3 can't be downgraded?

These updates don't "damage" the phone. If anything, it would be the "process" that might open the phone for being "damaged". People need to recognize that they're talking about the manufacturer providing updates. If I'm upgrading Tiger and the installation goes bad, and I need to do a clean install, I don't refer to Apple "damaging" my computer. Come on now. If anything "jailbreaking" your phone damaged it, but its intentional damage that caused the "right" result.

Sorry for my lack of terminology skills. By damage I meant brick or stop from working. Is that better?

I am thinking of restoring my hacked 1.1.2 phone before this update comes out, then updating to 1.1.3 and waiting for february for the SDK to come out

It has been rumored that a jailbreak for 1.1.3 will be released on or around Jan. 15th.

Die? Don't install it then! I'm planning on staying on 1.1.2 until either a 1.1.3 oktoprep type app comes out or a 1.1.4 with 'must have' features. The only one that I can see so far that is tempting is the google maps locate me feature. I can live without that if it means keeping all my extra apps.
