I've just got my iPhone how I want it, with my apps etc installed. Is it worth the hassle of reinstalling everything to upgrade to 1.1.3? As far as I can tell, the only things of interest are the jiggly icons (can do with customize) and SMS to more than one person.

Anything I've missed?

Cheers

It's just a more complete device and after laying out the money, use the best, not last month's version. Reinstalling apps is the easiest thing in the world to do. And let me tell you something, the jiggly icons that get joked about are a great thing to have. Have the best. You've laid out the money.

All apps work ?

Some apps are written for 1.1.1 and .2.. Some won't work, but sooner or later they will.

Hold out on upgrading until the SDK comes out, which should either be TOMORROW, or in a week or 2 (since they are delaying it?)

And no, it really isn't "a better device with 1.1.3"

I won't fight you on this but it's a better, more complete device. I would never go back.

You should fight me on this.

Compared to a jailbroken phone, and upgrading to 1.1.3....

What's better?

Only thing that comes to mind is multiple SMS built in, and the silly cell triangular tower locater.

by NO MEANS is it a better device on 1.1.3.

if you want to use customize don't go to 1.1.3.
if you want to have to bend over backwards to get your desktop looking nice don't do it.
if you want more than 4 apps in your dock don't do it.

essentially..
if you want less space (because of the new firmware) and some jiggly icons.. do it.

Recently upgraded

I can't say I saw any improvements from 1.1.3 - on the other hand the springboard or summerboard whatever it's called hangs infrequenty which did not happen with 1.0.2.

I don't buy music on iTunes using the iPhone and the speakers are still weak and the battery life is still bad - got to recharge every day and half - very infrequent use.

But my wife liked it over her Nokia - so she has it now a days.

I was assuming that he had a jailbroken phone. Doesn't everybody? Look, I just like this iPhone and I like it better with 1.1.3.

What are you even talking about?

He does have a jailbroken iPhone. Any jailbroken iPhone is better than any current iPhone firmware out at the moment.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Why wait for the SDK? Are we expecting 1.1.4 at the same time?

Cheers

I think you should relax. What are you so pumped up about? It's a silly forum. That's all it is.

I think you should learn how to forum.

You get defensive when i say "What are you talking about".

It's the purpose of the forums. To find out what is best. If you're going to say it's good, then explain why instead of a "I'm not going to fight you on this".

And yes, when the SDK comes up there should be an update.

I wish I knew what you were talking about. Anyway, have a nice evening.

I did that because I'm sensitive enough to realize that somthing I say might be offensive or hurtful to another person.

here i'll help you out :)

but you would understand more if you quickly didn't edit your post.

hilarious. he edited his posts to look less like an apple *ock jockie.

oliver.. seriously.. its a hassle to upgrade to 1.1.3.
if you want to re-do your phone upgrade.. if your remotely happy. stay where you are.

what in those 3 statements was offensive?
other than how un-educated they were..

my guess is you just got a 1.1.3 phone.. and haven't even jailbroken it.

Chin up, no one is attacking you.

However, i AGREE with rje.

I was constantly having issues with crashing from 3rd party apps with any of the jailbreaks I went with (1.1.1, 1.1.2, and 1.1.3)

After the 2nd complete crash with jailbroken 1.1.3 (it would only boot to the recovry screen) I gave up and decided to wait for the SDK.

If you mean me, I jailbroke, upgraded and unlocked my phone.

don't forget the "locate me" feature on maps...although it is no GPS. Wait, so are you going to jailbreak 1.1.3? If so, then you should upgrade. Otherwise, wait a few days for the SDK because that would be the only real reason to upgrade.
I upgraded from a jailbroken 1.1.1 to a clean 1.1.3 and I regret it. After numerous attempts to downgrade I finally gave up. Mainly due to the supposed late feb. sdk release.
