Today i downloaded all my photos (500mb)to convert them to the heic format. Then i erased all photos from mac, iphone and icloud but after looking manage icloud space on my mac, i see there are still 1.2 gb in use from photos.

Is to disable icloud photos and wait 30 days the only option to clean up this or have someone an idear what the heck is going on.

You can got to the icloud.com website and select/delete all photos from the recently deleted folder there. It will delete for good all deleted, but still kept 30 days photos. I done it a couple of times.
