I got my 1.3 on Monday, and now that I've gotten it set up and used it... I love it!

Love the keyboard, the screen is beautiful, trackpad is fine. I haven't tried any of the other models for comparison, but this 1.3 has been plenty fast. Even after installing and using Lightroom and Dreamweaver, it hasn't gotten notably warm, and the performance seems a bit faster than my '13 MBA i7 1.7.

The slimness and light weight were really important to me, and for those I was willing to sacrifice some performance. For my purposes (writing, browsing, RAW file photo editing, some light video editing) this machine is very capable and doesn't feel like a compromise so far (even compared to the new MBP I use at work.)

If I did heavy video editing every day, or if I were a gamer, I would go with a MBP. But for what I need, the MacBook exceeds my expectations.

The only thing I really don't like so far is the lack of MagSafe. I liked the safety of it, but even more than that I find it hard (and annoying) to try to find the USB-C port in the dark/by touch, which was very easy with the MagSafe!

That's great to hear. It sounds like your use for the MacBook is the same as mine and I'm leaning towards actually making the purchase

You won't regret it. This thing is amazing. I even like the keyboard, which is strange since my desktop has a Das Keyboard (big and clicky). It's different, but I haven't missed a key yet.

1.3

Well with all these positive reviews of the 1.3 I've bit the bullet so to speak, don't want to wait the requisite 4-6 weeks, purchased on eBay from a top rated seller who has a number of 1.3 configurations to sell for a slight mark up of course, but when taking tax into account paying only $50 or so more, more than worth it.

it's a real shame people buy these, all they do is validate the business model and make sure people have to wait even longer for their orders....

Good info! I'm really looking forward to mine arriving! The demo models have finally showed up in stores in the UK and I played with one earlier today running 10.10.3 and all the lag issues I saw on launch day in NYC with the older software had vanished..! Both were 1.1/256 too so I can't wait for my 1.3 to show up :D

Love it!

I've only had my SG 1.3/512 since yesterday (originally scheduled for delivery Tuesday 5/5) but so far I really love this thing.

After reading the many reviews I started to wonder if I was going to be happy. The things that started to concern me were the keyboard, the 12" screen and if it was going to be too limiting coming from a 13" Air and the palm rest. The palm rest area was something never even considered until mentioned on this forum. And I was especially worried since the 13" Air is so comfortable.

We'll after almost two days, I LOVE the keyboard; I actually liked it right off the bat. It is much more accurate and easy for me to type quickly. And the screen resolution makes up for the smaller size. I don't miss the extra inch at all.

The palm rest area is indeed limited but given the overall form factor, it is well worth it. The portability of the MacBook and light weight really make it something special.

Performance has been great too. I don't know if they fixed the bug where it hangs on initial setup but I had FireVault selected and had no issues whatsoever. My DropBox is synched and I have not experience any lag at all. I'm very pleased.

The only thing not perfect is that Wi-Fi does not seem to reconnect after the laptop has gone to sleep.
