I agree. A shoe store can't claim to be open if the doors are open but you can't try on the shoes.
People..people..people.. you guys got it all wrong.. The reason we were so disappointed was that Apple store was our last hope... We DID go to Times Square to cop some crack and the dealer said he had no rocks, then we went to the east village to cop some dope and the guy said he was all out of smack, then we went to Washington square park to cop some major weed and he said he just sold it all to a girl scout troop. So, we went to Scores and did a few lap dances, charged up 1500 dollars worth of drinks on a credit card we stole from the dinner we chewed and screwed at and then were like, man, what do we do now. My buddy said crap, lets go to the Apple store and see which Mac Genius is the stupid one.....
Cupertino is the trueMecca.

OK.. For those of you still following this thread.. here is the conclusion of it all. My roommate just called the NYC Apple store to ask what happened last night and was that just a fluke that all the computers had a picture of a pad lock on the screen with "updating" written across it. She kind of chuckled and said, "to be perfectly honest we turn off Internet browsing so the homeless don't hang out more than they do already". She went on to say that they really cant be calling the police every five minuets because a smelly guy is sitting down there not leaving. They open their doors to everyone, including unsavory types. They legally can not ask them to leave. She said it was really their first winter open and she thinks it will be their last. She suspects they will close at midnight starting in October next winter. I guess too many homes less go down there to keep warm. So thats the scoop.. It had nothing to do with updating.. they were all locked.
Nope.
