Just wondering if anyone knows if the new intel mac minis are 32-bit chips or 64-bit chips ?

Were the 1.42 PPC mini's 64-bit ??

Thanks for the info !

All the G4 chips were 32 bit. The current Core Solo/Duo chips are 32 bit. I believe the Core chips were indeed 64 bit but have the extra bits "turned off" permanently at the factory. The next mobile release from Intel called Merom, due out fall/winter this year will be 64 bit.

The only PPC chip that apple used that was 64 bit was the G5.

Name one program that benefits from a 64-bit processor.

By the time programs that greatly benefit from a 64-bit processor come out, you'll want a new machine. Don't worry about the 32-bit Intel chips.

are you saying buying current intel apple products isn't a good idea?

Un, no. It just means that you're not going to need 64-bit until 64-bit applications are necessary for all tasks. 32-bit applications still rule the consumer market.
