1 core at 100% while syncing w/ a crazy fan

When MM syncs, one of my cores goes to 100% and the fan goes crazy. Is this normal?

I've reset my sync server, trashed the prefs, ect but nothing happened. I'm about to assume this is just another thing Apple screwed up on when going from .mac>MM.
