as someone who has owned a 7 plus in the past I can say the battery lasted at least 6 hours longer than my current x. I could go on a day and a half without charging it, where the x needs charging 1-2 times a day. As if 90 minutes is going to change my experience in any way. I’m curious to know what plus users think about this? I think 90 minutes is bull****

Your 7 Plus does not get 6 more hours of usage time than an iPhone X, and their hour and a half is usage time, not standby.

I used to get 6 weeks out of my 7 Plus and now with my X I get 3 hours! /s

My 7 plus playing music on device (not streamed) all day, plus messaging, email and social media I’d get down to the 20% warning by 7pm. Currently I get down to around 22% on the X. That’s a new’ish X with battery capacity showing 99% versus the 7 Plus that was at 91% capacity when I sold it. No way is the X bad for battery, plenty of iPhones have faired worse!

So if it's 1.5 hours more than the X officially, how many more hours is it it compared to the 8 Plus's official specs?
If I recall, the X was officially very similar to the 8 Plus in terms of battery life except in Wi-fi usage.

According to this the XS Max has better battery life than the 8 Plus:

It’s funny how they didn’t compare the Max battery to the 8 Plus only the X.

Yeah exactly. Because they know the i plus has way better battery life

I don’t know about “way” longer, but if I recall, Apple said that the 8 Plus should get about an hour more than the X. So if the Xs Max gets 1.5 more it might actually be slightly better than the 8 Plus, but of course Apple would highlight the more favourable comparison.

Interesting, because my x battery feels similar to my 7. I’ve had both 7 and 7 plus, and it never lasted any way near close to the plus..in my experience

I’m actually shocked that they switched to a 7nm chip and kept the same dimensions but could still only squeeze an additional 30 minutes out of the XS. It sounds so minor that I almost had to laugh.

Ya in fairness i kinda agree with the op and I'm also disappointed, i mean what is the point in going on about how efficient the a12 is and other internals and putting much bigger capacity batteries (compared to 8/8plus) in the xs design when you only get marginally more battery life, i thought the idea in the first place was going to drastically improve battery life with the L-shaped battery and the supposed more efficient oled screen but it's not really much better. Take just the XS for example right, more efficient cpu/gpu /intel modem/camera sensor/ios 12 and only 30 mins more battery life, it's annoying really after listening about how efficient this and that is, for battery life to be more or less the same as the x.

I always find it interesting how people debate battery statistics like it applies to everybody else the same. Everyone’s battery life will vary depending on usage and settings, no one will have the same battery life. Either way, I genuinely have not had a complaint about Apples battery life with iPhones.

Are people really complaining that a 5.5inch 1080p phone gets more battery life than a 6.5inch with higher resolution phone? Lol what do you guys expect??

Depends on usage, but I’m sure they are being conservative as they typically are. I expect the Max battery to be more than sufficient. I charge nightly though and have never had a problem.

I think the XR will be the new battery champ. Apple says it lasts 1.5 hours longer than the 8 Plus. That should translate to really excellent battery life

Y’all AMOLED is extremely inefficient on white backgrounds which is a problem with iOS at this time. The iPhone X’s display pulls 3.25 Watts on a full white background at max brightness (634 nits). The iPhone 8 Plus pulls 1.5 Watts. Yikes! I don’t even wanna imagine what the XS Max is pulling...

Yes, videos and photos will be considerably better but iOS is very inefficient for their AMOLED’s right now.
