New iphone 5S ios 7.0.2
All new sms are ok, but restored messages now shows +1 in the number and therefore not recognized as contacts...
I tried the “Dial Assist” prefix/on/off… did not help
Any suggestions on how to fix this/remove the +1 addition to the number?

Thanks!

N

Yes.

example:

contact name: David
phone: 123456789

under Messages I now have a message from David and now it shows as
+1 1236456789
and not as David

Thanks for the reply.

Okay, that sounds weird. Try this, delete the message and text your friend again, when he texts back (to a fresh message) does it display in the same chat window or another one ? i think my parents had the same kind of issue when they used a UK carrier in the US. failing that set up device from new and see if it does the same thing ? you can always restore from a backup after

+1 is the US international code, whenever I switch my SIM when I'm abroad my contacts have the +1 too, but when I return to my US SIM all my contacts are recognized

I always store my contacts' phone numbers with full international dialling prefixes. It removes any ambiguity. I suspect if you did the same your contacts would show up fine, regardless of the SIM you're using.
