I am about to purchase a MacBook Pro and its original 1 year warranty is going to expire in November.

Can I still purchase AppleCare+? The seller is going to provide me with the original receipt.

I found this on MacRumors that claims I can, but I wanted to confirm since I will not be the original owner.

Apple say 60 days after purchasing.

How to buy

  1. Purchase AppleCare+ with your new Mac.
  2. Or buy it within 60 days of your Mac purchase:
    • On your device (go to  > About This Mac > Support)
    • Online (requires you to verify your serial number)
    • At an Apple Store (inspection of Mac and proof of purchase are required)

I’ve read here previously that if the owner calls Apple, they can run diagnostics and MAY allow them to purchase applecare. Ultimately, it’s luck of the draw based on who you end up speaking to at apple.

AFAIK You can actually purchase Applecare Plus at anytime before 1 year is up. If you do it before the 60 day is up, you don't need to take it to the apple store, you can just simply do it through the apple support app or through your settings.

If it's after 60 days and you want to add Applecare Plus, you must take it in for an inspection and once it passes then you can add AC+.

I was able to add AppleCare+ to my Apple Watch Series 6 in November 2021 a few days before the 1 year warranty was up, but I was told by an Apple support rep that in July 2022, they stopped allowing this, so you can only buy it within 60 days again.
