I'd seen a thread somewhere on here where using a very small black jpg as a background image remove the dull grey around the folders and dock. Having a row of folders down the left-hand side (including one in the dock) looked really cool, especially with a jet black phone.

Not sure what Apple have done, but 10.2 appears to have broken this sadly :(

I haven't been running the beta, so it is something new to me!

Completely ruins the look of the phone. Does anyone have a screenshot that I can send to Apple and ask why they've broken it? Didn't take one on mine :(

This effect? So trying the tiny black JPG trick wont work anymore after 10.2.
Minor...but darn it I like this all black effect!

Yep, that! I'm going to try and go back to 10.1.1 as it just looks hideous with any kind of black background now. Don't update!

Yep, been fixed for a while on my Jet Black 7 (was running the beta from day 1) really annoying, looked amazing

You mean perhaps why they fixed it? Given that it likely wasn't supposed to behave the way that it did before and it was likely some glitch that allowed it to show up like that.

Thanks for the links, although a little late for me now :(

How good does that phone look? Compared with the horror Apple have just kindly left me with.

[doublepost=1481571261][/doublepost]If that's 'fixed' Apple should hang their head in shame!

Not a very up-to-date backup (lesson 1, backup before updating) but at least I don't have to look at that horrible grey dock or folder icons :D Lesson 2, don't update as soon as one is announced (I really should have learned this by now!) Now to discover what I've lost or need to reconfigure...

I'm so used to the all black screen tweak, I didn't even think about it when it came to the update until it was posted.

I'll lose the black screen, it's not a big deal. Give it time, I'm sure the creator, maybe someone else will find another tweak for this..I hope. I haven't updated to 10.2 yet...I always wait a few hours, sometimes a full 24 hours and check forums, others sites for any possible problems.

Latest update from the website > https://heyeased.blogspot.co.uk/2016/12/changes-of-wallpaper-specification-in.html

Doesn't look good for a 'all black' background, which kind of defeats the purpose of a gorgeous jet black phone.

Fortunately, after about 5 hours of restoring 10.1 and my old backup, updating apps and copying about 100GB of music everything is back to black :D

Whether there is someone left at Apple with the first clue about UI design will make this available through a few switches in the Settings app at some future update or I'll be staying at 10.1 whilst I still have a jet black phone.

You're going to ask Apple why they broke a hack? o_O

Hack or not, it didn't do any harm and made their UI look significantly better on a black device. They should have left things alone or allowed this to be configured in the settings.

You can't honestly tell me the previous screenshot with grey folders and dock looks better than the one above?

I'm not saying it doesn't look good. It was just a hack/unintended behavior that Apple fixed.

Unintended behaviour with the side effect of making something looked better would have been best left unfixed in my opinion. Apple really are losing their focus :(

Apple is a business. They make great products and millions of users buy these products. What focus have they lost?

Likely the fixed some underlying UI bug that might have applied to other things too in addition to being responsible for this particular glitch.
