A friend of mine who is not too great at computers owns a Ibook G4. She is running 10.3.3. When the computer starts she only gets a gray screen, not an apple.

I know 10.4 has disc utility on 2 DVD's it comes with. I know people have used that to fix the problem. However I don't see this option on the install disc (10.3.3).

Could someone possible help me break away from this gray screen?

It should be on the Panther install disk:

1. Start up from the Mac OS X Install Disk by inserting the disk and restarting your computer holding down the C key.
2. Choose Installer>Open Disk Utility and select the disk in the left column.
3. Click First Aid.
4. Click Verify Disk to test it or Repair Disk to test and repair it.

Also disconnect any peripherals from your computer.
