since updating and restarting my intel mac mini wont finish booting, it gets to the main screen but no tray icons load up, just get a beach ball.

is there anything i can do before reinstalling?

Now you see, it seems to have improved my Mac... Even though its been perhaps diagnosed as a hardware fault for mine. I don't get any hangs or that poxy SBBOD. But time will tell for me.

Can you revert back to .9?

Try booting off the CD and repair permissions in disk utility...

It took a long tima and two rerstarts for my mini to boot up. Repairing the permissions (several times) got rid of the problem

Same issue on MBP

I had same issue on my MBP but after 15 minutes it just restarted itself and now runs as should :) I bet they do some post install steps when rebooting thats why - and depending on CPU and RAM it probably takes around 10-30 minutes.
