10.4 Login problems

My 59 year-old father somehow can no longer login to his PowerMac G4 running Tiger, (not sure which version). He never used to require a password to login, so I am not sure what he did, but he says his username and password don't work anymore.

Anyone have a suggestion for what I can do? Even reinstalling the OS would be better than the constant phone calls I'm getting from him.
 
He should just be able to boot off the Tiger DVD and use it to reset the password for his account (it's in the menus once the DVD has booted).
