I have just updated my Powerbook to 10.5.3 and have noticed something really strange happening: when I close the lid of the Powerbook, it now powers down instead of going into Standby. It all worked perfectly under earlier versions of Leopard.

I can't see why this is happening and hope that there's just some setting I need to change but I would appreciate any advice or tips on the subject.

Try a PMU reset followed by a PRAM reset.

A PMU reset and all works again! Thanks so much for the advice - it seems obvious in hindsight but it needed someone to point me in the right direction.

Hello

I had the same problem. I have now sorted it by downloading the full 420mb version of 10.5.3 from Apples downloads page. I originally downloaded the 190mb version via software update.
I thought I had nothing to loose by trying it. All OK now.

Hope this is of help:)

Thanks again

I have just done the same thing just to be on the safe side. Thanks for the advice.
