I have both iPad 10.5 and mini and now also the 12,9 Pro. I feel that I am going to sell the mini and take my 10.5 to work with me to use to read the news etc. I am just wondering if the 10.5 will be too heavy to carry around? The mini has always been easy and light to carry around but the bigger 10.5 would obviously be nicer to use.

Do you take your 10.5 iPad Pro to work/school and is it manageable and not too heavy? Which case do you use?

I use an IPad Pro 12.9 3rd gen and they are ever so light to take around imho. I remember the days I used to carry around real heavy laptops with me, so never understand why people find IPads cumbersome to take around. I carry around the IPP 12.9 with the apple keyboard folio case everywhere I go in my bag so you will be just fine.

No I don’t think the 10.5” is too heavy to carry around. But it’s not a mini. I have an iPad mini 2, and a 9.7” that I just gave to my brother cause I just ordered the new 11” iPad Pro for serious work. I love the iPad mini for when I really wanna travel light. It fits right in my cargo pants pocket. No need for a backpack even. Can’t do that with the 10.5” or 11” or 9.7” for that matter. My iPad mini 2 is definitely dying tho. But I will get a new iPad mini IF Apple updates it in March. It’s always nice to have when I wanna go really light. But if they don’t update it, I will adjust to always carrying around my 11” no problem. It will be my main computing device.

Yeah, my mini seems to be slowing a bit but that might be because I’m used to using the faster Pro’s. If they do bring out a new mini I think I’d definitely get out. Would love a mini Pro!

When the 9.7 was too heavy for me I went to the gym, problem solved! Now I can even carry the 12.9 with only a little difficulty.

It's lighter than toting around a hardcover book. I put mine in my purse.

Stuff mine into my laptop bag with my 2 laptops. Doesn’t add any noticeable weight to me. Then again, I used to deliver newspapers as a kid including the fat Sunday papers with all the circulars so no portable computing device other than the TRS-80 Model 4 has ever felt heavy to me.

lol - I remember the Trash-80 M4. 4MHz and 64k RAM! And TRSDOS. Cost about $2k when it came out in '83, equivalent to $5k today. Who says the iPad Pro is too expensive?

You’re the only one that can really answer this question so why don’t you carry it around and find out? No one here can tell you if it’s too heavy for you.

To me, the 11 is this awesome little purse-sized package that does anything I want! I’m sure 10.5 is the same.

I carry my new 11-inch in my briefcase to work every day. It's in the Apple folio case (not the Keyboard variety, although I have that as well). It's about the same weight as the 9.7 iPad pro model it replaced.

That said, I would mention that both the 11 inch and 12.9 inch models of the new iPad Pros are significantly heavier when you add the Keyboard folio case. This was my biggest beef about the new 12.9, and the main reason I did not get it... it was really heavy with the Keyboard folio. It would be fine for tabletop use, but was difficult to hold and use in your hands (for me anyway).
