so i skipped the "check disk" step because i had used the disk before. but there was a issue with the disk apparently. the archive and install stopped half way thru with a "error on disk" message. Now my OS is no longer bootable. Is there a resolution that isnt a all day ordeal? perhaps a command in single user mode? I could try to boot it in target disk mode and probably manually retrieve my data from another machine but thats obviously not ideal.. any information on the subject would be a great help. thank you

I don't think there is a quick way to fix this. I might be wrong, but I mean, you are half way through installing an OS when a crash happened. Nothing would be able to recover from that

I doubt there is an easy fix. You may as well do an archive and install and then just use your back to restore to where you were.
