Somewhere on Earth
On Sunday I 'upgraded' from an iPad Pro 9.7 2017, to an iPad Pro 10.5.
Not sure if this is just me, but, the speakers on the iPad Pro 9.7 was MUCH better than this 10.5.

Today was the first time I actually even started to play YouTube videos, while sitting on the sofa. And, since the missus wasn't home, I let it play via the device, versus headphones.

I even had to have the volume near maximum to even hear it decently. For a moment, I thought the issue was the YouTube video(s) I was watching. Tried some old ones, and same thing.

Rather surprised by this...

I upgraded from the Pro 9.7 (which came out in 2016) to the 10.5 and I have the opposite experience. The speakers are pretty bomb on the 10.5.

Was watching Netflix on it the other day and I was shocked. Sounded like surround sound and it was pretty loud. Crisp and clear.

I had the same issue, mine was embarrassingly quiet. I sold my 10.5” to upgrade to the 2018 version that I hope actually comes out this year. lol

The 10.5 was not "lucky" for me. The first one I got sounded great; speakers were loud. Unfortunately mine was bent, had a curve to it. I returned and exchanged it. The second 10.5 had noticeably weaker speaker performance. Recently, I had the 10.5 replaced (the display was irregular.) This third 10.5 has great, loud speakers. There seems to have been quite an inconsistency.

I love the speakers on the 10.5. I can use the iPad for music without a Bluetooth speaker when cleaning up around the house. The sound spreads out pretty far. Definitely an improvement from the 9.7 Pro.

I have been playing with the 3 generations side by side over the last few weeks and honestly I would say the 9.7 and 10.5 speakers are pretty similar. Instead I was a bit disappointed with the 11, the bass is not the same. Having said that they are all 3 very good and similarly loud. My 1st gen 12.9 pro is still in a league of its own however compared to the smaller pros.
