When I'm at home, I usually use an E-MU 0404 USB audio interface to channel sounds from my MBP.

The problem is that every time I turn on the interface, the sound is distorted and corrupt. It is not a problem with the hardware; my monitors and interface work properly.

The only workaround is to restart the computer with the interface connected and on, which clears up the sound. However, this is very inconvenient to do every time and I think that it's most likely due to a sound driver issue. Anyone else experiencing this or have suggestions?

Computer info: 2.66 15" unibody MBP, 10.6.1

Help is on the way…

I have the same problem with the 0404 USB and my MacBook Pro with 10.6. I got this response from the E-MU support:
We are working on MAC new drivers and hope to have them as soon as we can.
