Mine has not. but it does seem better.

I wonder if it is more of a firmware thing as my 15in Pro does have instant on compared to my Air.

I believe most of us reported longer wake up times than 2 secs under Lion, so it looks like they addressed it in this update, even if it is not part of the list of bugfixes!

Nevermind! Just saw your post, atMac :(

The issue is that there is a 3-4 lag before the mouse cursor or keyboard respond to inputs (although if you type, it will suddenly load the text 4 sec. later), so in essence, no the issue is not fixed yet.

Just tested it for ***** and giggles. Put my 11" MBA to sleep and shut the lid.

Lid open = start timer.

Logon screen = 3.2 seconds
Trackpad responding to touch = 6.5 seconds
Keyboard input recognized = 7.8 seconds

I would not consider this instant-on, and besides, my Core Duo 2010 model woke-up much faster than this without any trackpad / keyboard lag.

Yup, pretty much the same results here and it was the only reason why I was waiting for 10.7.3. The Core Duo with SL indeed had the instant-on feature. However Apple is still advertising about it today

Do you have FileVault loaded? If so, that slows it down a bit. For me, it is still a little bit slower than the 2010 MacBook Air, but on par with a 2009 MacBook Pro (my only other comparison point as there are no other non-MacBook Air Macs in the family).

The difference between the "instant on" in the MacBook Airs and the similar feature in the other Macs (or Windows PCs, for that matter) is that the MacBook Air also has the deep sleep mode. Sure, the 2006 MacBook had an "instant on" but if you let it sleep overnight, it lost 10% of the battery.

In my experience, on a 2011 MacBook Air, if it hasn't gone into deep sleep, I can start typing in my FileVault2 login password after about 2-3 seconds. By the time I do that, the trackpad is operable. My sister also has a 2011 MacBook Air without FileVault enabled. On that one, the system wakes up in about 1-2 seconds and the trackpad is usually active within another 1-2 seconds. That's pretty "instant on" as far as I'm concerned.

Previous generation of Airs with Snow Leopard were fully active before you even finished to open the lid, which was to my understanding what was meant by "instant on", just like waking up your cell or tablet. I guess it is ok for users who haven't experienced the previous iteration of this feature, but it sucks that it is pretty much gone with Lion even thought Apple wants you to believe it isn't and continues to advertise for it. For users opening and closing the lid often, this feature was great and the 4 secs of wait can get annoying if you have been spoiled with the "real" instant-on! Hopefully will be back someday...

We need to make a video with SL an Lion laptops side by side, and a timer, to demonstrate this, as Apple is basically denying there is an issue.

In deep sleep it's about 5-6 seconds.

I've owned the Rev A, Rev B, Rev D, and now Rev E MacBook Airs, so I know what I'm talking about. The Rev E is a tad slower, but I think that some people may be having issues that others aren't (perhaps it's some bad firmware).

In my case, if I close the lid and reopen it, the login screen comes up within a second. I can start typing in my password. While there is a slight lag before the screen updates the letters, it recognizes my input. By the time I'm done with my password and press Enter, it is up and running.

From Deep Sleep, it takes about 8 seconds for the login screen to come up. On my 2010, it maybe took 4-6 seconds for the same.

If you are experiencing something different, perhaps take it in and have it checked out.

I've noticed at least they fixed the scrambled screen upon wake... I haven't seen it since updating to .3 (combo).
