2013 late 13' rMBP with OS X 10.9.2. I upgraded it with combo package.

I've done these below:
1. check and repair directory/disk permissions using disk utility in both normal and recovery mode
2. reset SMC (though I don't think it's related) and PRAM
3. unplug all USB devices before startup

I find it weird that after "BOOT_TIME", it took more than 1 minute to log the next message.

Any suggestion would be helpful, though I don't want to format and reinstall the whole OS.

Here's the log:

I found the entry "14-4-8 08:58:56.000 kernel[0]: BSD root: disk0s2, major 1, minor 2" might mean your hard drive is giving up errors. I would look at that.
What should I do to examine it? I have checked it with Disk Utility and get no warning or error.

Clear the kext caches:

sudo chown root:admin (enter password)

sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel
sudo kextcache -system-caches

Do in terminal and reboot. make sure your start up disk is still selected correctly in preferences.

Thanks for above replies. I tried commands on 3F and re-repaired my disk. Now I don't need to wait 1 min. They worked.
But I still get "14-4-9 19:40:33.000 kernel[0]: BSD root: disk0s2, major 1, minor 2". So I wonder if it's a warning for my SSD. But SMART says normal.

Sorry to re-bother you all.

After testing several times, I found that the startup would be slow if I shut down the laptop connecting to a Belkin Thunderbolt hub ( I use the ethernet).

And I found that after updating to 10.9.2, there's a 10 seconds white screen when shuting down.

Any fix suggestion?

That is going to vary and there isn't much you can really do about it. Usually it is Apple processes that run from time to time on shutdown. It's been a problem since Snow Leopard.
