Let me chime in the chorus, as I also have this WiFi reconnect problem with my 2011 MBPro.

I've written to Apple Feedback a couple times about this issue; it wasn't fixed in 10.9.2.

For me, this started with 10.9.2 as all previous version including Mtn Lion worked fine.

Yes, I have to turn off and on wifi for my late late 2013 macbook pro retina to reconnect internet. It's never been this way before 10.9.2

Add me to the list. It now takes about 30-60 seconds to connect where before 10.9.2 it would be under 5 seconds. It is incredibly annoying. 2013 rMBP for me.

I've noticed since I upgraded to 10.9.2 on my 2011 MBP, whenever I wake my laptop up from sleep (open the lid and type my password), the WiFi icon on my menu bar is greyed out, and it takes about 10-30 seconds to reconnect to my WiFi network. During that time, the 'rainbow' icon indicates that it's connecting.

This is very annoying, because on 10.9.1 and below, my laptop would be on WiFi and connected instantly upon waking my laptop up. I've repaired permissions and ran Onyx, to no avail.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Same here. I actually cannot even connect to WiFi automatically anymore. I have to click on the icon on the top bar, wait for it to load the list of available networks, and the select the one I want. This is really freaking annoying.

i also have slow to reconnect wifi

as well as my imac loses its ip address if its in sleep mode for too long

Maverick doesn't play nice with WiFi

After enduring weeks of slow- or non-loading gmail. the real crisis came when I tried to download the Quark upgrade 9.5.4 needed to work with my new Mac Book Pro's Maverick. I've spent over a week in contact with Qk Parature Support trying to figure out why the download of the Qk. 9.5.4 installer keeps quitting. Reading the forum comments, I realize that the problem might be the Maverick/WiFi interface. Very flawed! What to do? I've tongue-lashed my cable provider, reset modem, rebooted router, switched browsers, created new user account - all to no avail. The 798 mb update will not complete a download. I'm stymied.

Tried something else today ... deleted the SystemConfiguration folder out of /library/preferences and so far so good. Let's see if I need to edit this in the next day or so to say the problem's returned.

Unfortunately, this is an issue which started since Mavericks, this is a thread on Apple forums:

It seems to be an issue with bluetooth < > wifi, and it seems to happen when both are enabled, and this is a theory: when you power off one of the bluetooth devices while the macbook is in sleep mode.

Disabling bluetooth fixes the problem, but this is not an option for most people (mouse, keyboard and so on).

I have this issue ever since Mavericks, and it's completely annoying :(

(Running late 2013 MBPr 15")

Not true, I have always had Bluetooth disabled and the issue still persists.

this worked for me EXCEPT!!! lost all my wifi networks, settings, my ighome page lost all of it's settings, lost some site logins...and restoring the original SystemConfig folder did NOT fix the safari issues...

there must be a SPECIFIC file in that folder that would fix the reconnect issue...shame that i lost my ighome page...

anyone know which specific files to remove??

Piling on ...

... we're having the same issue on our Late 2012 Mini w/ Mavericks 10.9.2

When you wake it from sleep, the Wifi icon goes through the motions of connecting, but it takes at least a minute (maybe 2? I usually go get coffee), and sometimes I need to open the dropdown and select our network from the list.

Re: the bluetooth component of this: I can't test that because I have both a bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

Can't wait for a resolution.

Same for me on 10.9.2 on my retina pro late 2013. Before the update it was instant. Now, it can take up to a minute.

Disabling bluetooth

I found that my wifi would take nearly 2-3 minutes to connect to my home wifi. I do not have a problem with the same laptop when it connects to my work wifi.

It seems to me that this began with 10.9.2. Also, I often use BT headphones at home (but not at work). It's reasonable to think that they put themselves to sleep often when I put the laptop to sleep, but I noticed problems connecting to my wifi even when I hadn't used them between laptop sleep periods.

Anyways, disabling BT solved my wifi connection issues. Now when I'm done with my headphones I simply turn of BT at the same time.

Thanks for the tip about BT, I never would have figured that. I just wanted to point out that this is a solution for some of these connection issues, albeit a poor one for folks that have BT keyboards/mice. Hopefully it's resolved soon.

I have the same issue on 10.9.3
Disabling Bluetooth is not an option for me. I use BT mouse and headphones.
I tried to reset NVRAM, PRAM, even deleted my network settings, but nothing seems to help.

despite my original enthusiasm (10.9.3 and wifi reconnecting after sleep), i have to say...sometimes my mac IS slow reconnecting to wifi. yuck...
