10.9 Spotlight & Time Machine Crashing

Since I upgraded from 10.8.4 to the 10.9 DP my Time Machine and Spotlight have been unusable and crashing cyclically.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm guessing I need to do a fresh install instead of an upgrade install....?

Nope. I'd search the developer forum before you reinstall. Others there might have the same problem.

I don't think any of that would apply as neither my Spotlight or Time Machine are at any point functional. They flash up in the menubar for a split second then crash....and nothing can access either my TM or Spotlight.

Then reinstall I guess. File a bug report first.
Make sure to run tmdiagnose and attach to your bug report. That will include diagnostic data from both spotlight and time machine.

You should be able to restore ML from a Time Machine backup. Try that and see if it helps.

Another case of OS X 10.9 Mavericks Spotlight not working..

I'd love to know if anyone figured out a fix for this please..

Btw if you exclude the Mail folder from Spotlight it might work for you again.
