That does seem odd. Maybe because 6 does not bring a significant improvement for headphones? Maybe to hold it back as a reason to upgrade to the Max 3?

It has to do with the H2 chip but the issue I have with that is the H1 chip was released in 2019 and the H2 in 2022. So, why not wait until H3 is ready to release a proper upgrade? It's cheapness and arrogance by Apple. It happens to every company; once it becomes too successful and it has no real competition, it becomes lazy.

Really? After 6 years you don't think this update is incredibly weak? Apple is just coasting now and doing the bare minimum when it comes to updating all their hardware.

But since you asked:

New Design
More premium ear cups
New Case
Lighter
Power Button
Different Colors

I think that about sums it up. Unless you think that Apple's created the absolute peak in headphone design and doesn't need to improve it. Which if you do think that then I couldn't disagree more.
See, majority of this board complains about every Apple release. Fact is, Apple doesn’t care about the crazy fringe, they are catering to the masses who want easy to use, simple products. You don’t like the update, buy a pair of headphones from a competitor that meets your needs.

They are headphones, and there are 10 audio improvements. That is what people who are going to spend $500+ on headphones care about. Your suggestions are nothing but cosmetic changes.

Lol your comment only shows how lost you are here. $500 is not expensive for high end headphones. I own a pair of Bowers and Wilkens and Bang and Olufsen headphones that were way more expensive than the AirPods Max.

And the reason I won't buy these new one's is because compared to actual high end headphones Apples audio enhancements will continue to lag behind the competition and their refusal to make the changes that people have been asking for only shows their laziness. Apple does transparency mode really well and that has been the one feature that other manufacturers have been lagging behind, but the competition is catching up.

Can you please point out where I said or even suggested these were “high end headphones”. 500 headphones, that’s what I said. 🤦‍♂️

Once again, Apple isn’t making products for the crazy fringe.

Question. Is there anything Apple does or makes that you don’t complain about?

Its not crazy fringe to ask Apple to actually make some meaningful design changes after 6 years. That's called innovating. 6 years and what will now be most likely another 3 years before another update means that Apple will likely go 9 years without a design change to these headphones. That is absolutely ridiculous.

I like all of the products that Apple makes (mostly all of them) I'm just not some raving fanboy that is afraid to criticize them.
