Has anyone heard about apple putting a 10 keypad on the 17" pro, that would be the feature that would make me switch in a heartbeat, would be nice they do have the realestate to do that??:confused:

A 10-key is holding you back from making the switch? For serious?

There you go. Now you can switch.

As for your question, no, I don't see the 17" ever having a 10-key in the foreseeable future. Apple likes to keep a minimalist design, and a 10-key is not minimal. Furthermore, Apple likes to save money by using the same parts across multiple product lines. Just look at the iMac and the MBP processors. Apple will keep the 15" and the 17" keyboards interchangeable. And if your job really demands a 10-key, you're better off with an external anyway. Sorry. There's always the chance that I'm wrong, but that's never happened. ;)

Wow, that external keypad is really nice!! Wireless, comes with a case... that would do it for me if I really needed something like that.

You can always get an external keyboard or use the num lock and the keys already there for the 10 key part.

unlike Adokimus, i believe someday it will be offered. In my line of work, a 10key pad is a must, and it is frustrating to have to carry a external 10key pad around with you everywhere you go. Its the little things that add up over time... like forgetting to bring extra batteries for you 10key pad when you REALLY need it, or leaving the usb tongle at home, or working on a plane table and have to try to make room for my 17' MBP and that 10key pad. For ALL the games i play a 10key pad is a must also, hence why i still use a 1.5 year old HP to play games on over my new MBP.

There is just SO much extra room on the surface of the 17' MBP (i have no idea about the internal workings, just speaking from what i can see) i don't see why they wouldn't. I just bought a hi-res 17' SR MBP and if in the next update they had a 10key pad i would switch in a heartbeat.

Those are the reasons I need it on board the NUM LOCK is fine but the simplicity of having it there will indeed make life easier, Now that iWorks is released it is just a next obvious step:).

Or are we not supposed to crunch numbers like the commercials suggest:p
