Hi, I have a chance to buy a new iPad 10.2 Series 9 Celullar model at a good price. However this is still sealed and new but it is at least 10 months old. An I likely torun into battery issues.

If it’s still in the warranty period I’d give it a shot. It’s hard to predict wether or not you will have battery problems. If the model is out of warranty consider what Apple charges for battery service as an additional item further down the line.

In the UK not sure but coverage starts when product is activated. Bought a couple of Apple watches that had never been used. Upon activation I checked support coverage and the date given was 12 months.

In the UK - and please correct me if I’m wrong - you’d also have good consumer laws protecting yourself against the original seller of the device too, so you should be well covered.

I think you'll be fine. I have an iPad Pro 9.7 that never ended up being used, from 2017, that still shows 100% battery life with 30 charge cycles, and 7264 mAh Actual capacity with 7161 mAh Design Capacity.

Just curious, did you always charge iPad with PC USB with wattage of 2w? I am wondering, whether this is one of contributor to the very good battery health.

That’s likely just to get the stats from Coconut/iMazing.

The 2W was just during the connection to the PC and reading via "3uTools". Actually, it's been in storage for most of the time...storing at 50%, and maybe checking once or twice a year to make sure it's not at Zero charge. So this is more of a "the iPad battery in your new iPad" at 10 months old, still sealed, is probably just fine.

I doubt you'll have any issues. It's charging and discharging (or keeping it charged 100 percent all the time) that causes issues.

The original purchaser would have Consumer Law protection, but it would be from the seller - not the manufacturer. In other words, Apple is only liable for CL claims for items bought at an Apple Store or the Apple Online Store. If purchased through a reseller, then CL claims go to the reseller.

Secondary resales don’t get CL coverage at all.

The two Apple watches that I bought were from Cash Converters in the UK who also provide a year warranty. However when I activated them via my Apple account it said I have service coverage for the year. As for the iPad the seller never responded to my offer, however I made another purchase from Cash Converters and managed to get and unopened one there which was £30 cheaper than from the private seller. This also has a years warranty plus I also expect the same thing to happen when I register it on my Apple account.
