I’ve been playing with the camera on the iPhone 12 Max Pro, and I haven’t found the ability to take a 10 second exposure on the 12 Pro Max. On my 11 Pro Max, the default was 3 seconds and you could manually change it up to 10 seconds. Due to the increase in light coming into the Wide camera, the default time is decreased to 1 second, but now the maximum time I can select is only 3 seconds. Is there any way to get a longer exposure on the 12 Pro Max?

Use a tripod. Basically what the previous generation used to do in 10 seconds the new generation does in 3.

I understand that we should get the same amount of light in 3 seconds that used to be done in 10. I was just wondering if it was possible to force the camera to use a 10 second exposure for certain situations. After playing with it some more, it seems like if you are in extremely low light situations, the max exposure length goes up

I think the only way to do it is with an APP from the app store. I'm not sure which one you would be able to do it, but I know there are some out there you can download that has a long exposure filter, I plan myself on getting one.

I first need to get a tripod though

The pro photo app HALIDE should allow you to do this. And a whole lot more -- it's extremely feature rich and, honestly, overwhelming.
