overall, yeah I’m loving the new 12.9” gen 3 iPad Pro. But somehow the keynote today did not mention the biggest drawback to that super-slim design: the 2018 has a 10% smaller battery!

    2018 3rd gen 12.9 = 36.71-watt-hour battery
    2017 2nd gen 12.9 = 41-watt-hour battery

How do they propose that we will get the same “up to 10 hours” of battery use?

iPhone battery decreased in size but maintains same overall battery life, so I’m not that concerned ... although same size would have meant longer life, and I would have taken that vs. thinness

Smaller batteries because newer processors and software are more efficient and use less power. This has been a thing for years.

I've never timed it but I believe I get longer than 10 hours with my 2017 12.9 so I expect they did have some leeway.
