I set vibration patterns for my contacts. What puzzles me is that my wife’s iPhone automatically sets vibration patterns based on the ringtones she’s chosen. I wonder if that’s because she uses Apple’s stock ringtones whereas I create my own ringtones.

I doubt anyone who follows an Apple page doesn’t know this already…
TBF, there are new iPhone users (and MR members) all the time, so I expect all levels of knowledge in the crowd. Even with long-time users, most won’t explore and read about all the ins and outs of every feature. Whenever MR posts this type of article I find I do know about most of it, but always find something I had not explored.

See Where You've Been

In the Maps app, you can look back at your location history to see places that you've visited. It's useful if you've been on a weekend trip, found a great restaurant, and want to remember where it was the next time you visit.
This is still in beta and quite erratic in my experience. Sometimes it’ll log a place I visited for 15 minutes, sometimes it will miss a known location I was at for a full 3.5 hours. If you’re going to cite it as a “feature” you should note that it’s in beta and can’t really be relied on as a log of where you’ve been.

I'm what you would call a power iPhone user. I learned several things I didn't know with these. I don't have time to read through all the documentation about every feature on the phone. I'd be highly surprised if many people know everything about every possible phone feature.

Full page screenshots isn’t an option for me. Seems like it’s a common issue. Wonder why.
Do you have this option on the top right when you take a screenshot?

Pretty sure many of these tips and tricks type things aren't even documented.

And even when they are, the interface has become overly complex trying to be overly simple.

I knew about location sharing and saw the warning that location is included but never thought to tap that tiny "options" text.

Nice Tips, as always - keep them coming. I totally forgot about the back tap gesture.

I remember, there once was a long article containing lots of those tricks in one place. Maybe a permanent section with a regularly updated collection (not spread over multiple articles, the comments and the forum) would be a nice feature for the macrumors-site?

Wow this was one of the best Mac rumors articles I've ever read

Used the "hide app page" method to hide 12 full pages of apps - and my phone is clean with only 2 pages!

Front page, which I use, and last page, which I also use for development apps and so on

The middle pages, I never use, I always use spotlight to find any apps... the apps are a mess and I am too lazy / unmotivated to spend hours dragging things into folders and so on...

Hide app page is exactly what I never knew I wanted.

So cool. Clean in less than 5 seconds!

Literally useful for about 10k people. Widget/app creep in lieu of better UX is upon us again.

You know what'd be useful for most people? A search keyboard properly UX'ed and number row.

Amen. To quote my profession, no matter how much seminary training you get, never forget to preach to the person who just walked in and sits in the back pew.

One of my favourite neat tips is dialing *3001#12345#* in the phone app to open FTMinternal for cell info

how did you even figure this one out?

I didn’t know that maps track you. I rarely use Apple Maps and haven’t in some time. Even using Google Maps Apple Maps shows all the places I’ve been this week.

assume anything that says Google, Meta, Microsoft is seeing and recording everything you do. So is any other "free" service.

Another "secret" trick is that if you have a page, select Print, and then on the small print preview, do a two finger reverse pinch outwards, it bring you to a full page print preview, that you can then save to files or email as a PDF. Very useful.
