oh yea, i forgot about the first iPhone software. i'm on a iPod Touch and the first iPod Touch version was 1.1.1 but still......it's really old

i think that was added in one of the 2.x.x, or maybe it was in one of the 1.x.x, idk, but i know that's not new

dang you beat me to it! I knew I should have skipped work!!

So I noticed that it installed 3.0 and kept all my apps and all of them in the same place (minus they all being pushed back on page to make room for the microphone app)
 
Okay, everytime this thread gets updated to reveal new features, I have to read every single one of them again and hunt down the newly found feature of 3.0 because the OP doesn't put the new ones on the very end of his list.

i don't mix up the ones with images and the ones without because i did that at first and you could barley tell where the ones without images were. newly added ones without images are the last one without an image, newly added ones with an image will be the first one with an image.

yea, i think what i'm going to start doing though is adding new ones w/o images to the very top and the ones with images to the very bottom. that makes it easier for me when editing them and it makes it easier for frequent viewers to find new features. so change in plans. sorry i keep changing it on you but i'm trying to get the best result and that takes some trial and error.

i forgot to put that one up there even though i knew about it. thanks for reminding me :). i'm glads they did this because that really got on my nerves
 
^^I know me too. I just noticed it while texting and browsing this very thread. I was pretty pumped when I saw it. lol

If you are using a docking device (such as a USA SPEC Interface for your car radio...), if you are listening to music but not in the iPod application, now when you skip to the next track it no longer exits whatever program you're in and brings you to the iPod application... it leaves you where you are. It used to do just the opposite, which was a pain if you were in the middle of doing something because you had to remember NOT to skip the song you were listening to otherwise you'd close your current application.

You have no idea how huge this is!!! I ditched my apple universal dock due to the fact that with the apple remote I could change the song but it would launch the ipod every time - thus as you said closing whatever app was open!! IT NO LONGER DOES THAT thanks for the find!! Now I need to test the universal dock plugged into a car stereo ipod direct connect cause before that didnt work!!
 
Was this avaliable on 2.2.1? The slideshow feature of Photos app now has transition effects. Attached is the screenshot of the ripple effect and the settings page.

Don't think this has been mentioned yet (might be wrong though):

You have the option to forward a contact on to someone now when you view their contact details.

those were in 2.2.1 but i think there is more now. i'm not sure. any one on 2.2.1 wanna check this out hat's be great.
 
You can type a second SMS message while the first is in the process of sending. (Not sure if that was posted yet or not)
 
Change in iPhone iTunes purchases

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I didn't see it on the front page:

When you buy something from the iTunes App, the purchase now goes into your general iTunes purchases list, instead of a specific "iPhone purchases" list.
 
3.0 has LDAP Directory support. It now searches through my company directory as I'm typing a name or email address. No need to store work contacts on my phone.
