What, you're not grateful to me for disabusing you from a flawed notion? I'm shocked.

So what we know is that the method for estimating how many species are going extinct daily is seriously flawed. So the numbers aren't reliable.

Which was my original point.

"We" don't know enough to claim that anything is "seriously flawed." That's a value judgment on the downstream effect of the error in other analyses.

You're a pleasure to speak to, but I don't think you want to do anything other than be cranky. Thanks for your contribution!

I find debates on exact numbers of animals going extinct to be tedious at best. What is (for me) of issue is that there are animals going extinct due to decisions man makes for short term gain. I think it is a poor trade off and denies future generations a part of nature. What a sad state of affairs when anyone finds this an acceptable practice.

I think it was the Black Rhino that went recently too. Supposedly there's a law where they have to have like ten years or something without seeing one in order to proclaim it "extinct"... which if that is the case I wonder how many are already gone but haven't been announced yet.

Humans as they are now are basically an infestation and a plague. Even people with good motives seem to still botch things up.

Heck with "being denied part of nature"... if certain animals go extinct the human race is done for within a decade. If the bees go, and we lose food supply... yeah I agree that's not a very good trade off. I'd rather be stung now and then than starve to death. I already hate that when a bee stings me it dies.

Melrose: I have not seen you about the forums for quite some time - I spotted you somewhere yesterday evening on the forums and meant to greet you.

Anyway, allow me to extend a warm welcome back to you and it is very good to see you online, again.

Thank you. Water under the bridge, as the saying goes. You get certain reactions from certain people anywhere humans coagulate. It's foolish on my part that it even got me as tweezed as it did, ergo, here I am. I may not be as active as before but may check in more often.

...I smiled to notice you're still using serif for your posts I see. :)
