When the car got airborn I was waiting for John McClain to roll out and a helicopter to show up in front of the car. Boooy was I dissapointed. But glad the kid survivied.

Another teenage hotshot who should be on a cold, roll-out slab (or in a doggy bag). I see these types of reckless drivers all the time on the freeways here... does it make me a bad person to wish this type of carnage on every jerkoff driver that endangers the lives of everyone on the road by exceeding 90 mph?

"Right now, troopers are investigating to see what role -- if any -- speed took in the crash."

Really?!

I'm no expert, but I'd say... yeah, speed had a role.

Two observations:

1. The guy was a dumbass for passing on the shoulder, period. Let alone passing a police car on the shoulder. Let alone passing a police car on the shoulder at 100+ mph.

2. Either the guy's brake lights don't work, or he never even tried to slow down...

holy crap. just imagine the forces on the human body at such high deceleration rates. that kid cheated both Death and natural selection because a world with 1 less idiot is a better place.

Part of me is glad that he survived and that his parents do not have to go through the process of laying to rest a son.

The other part of me... wishes he was dead so that idiots like this were off the road. I don't profess to be the best driver in the world but were is the common sense in passing a cop, on the should, going 100 mph+, and thinking he could get away with it??

Haha, I tought the same thing. :D Was that KITT? The guy pressed the turbo-boost button and he did fly.

I want to know what was going through this dudes mind.

Amazingly enough, not the overpass.

ps. The video of this they showed on the local news is high enough resolution that you can see the guy flying and sliding across the road. His body passes in front of that car in the right lane.

I saw this on Fark.com this morning (click here for comments).

To paraphrase an interesting comment from there: "Two seconds earlier or ten seconds later, and the guy would have been in the opposing lanes, most likely killing himself and others."

Another one, with much more of the snark typically found on Fark:
"Looks like the Duke boys got spun around more than Daisy at a family reunion."

Some "Farkers", as they call themselves, have even managed to find the driver's Facebook page.
