I saw this on Fark.com this morning (click here for comments).

To paraphrase an interesting comment from there: "Two seconds earlier or ten seconds later, and the guy would have been in the opposing lanes, most likely killing himself and others."

Another one, with much more of the snark typically found on Fark:
"Looks like the Duke boys got spun around more than Daisy at a family reunion."

Some "Farkers", as they call themselves, have even managed to find the driver's Facebook page.

In the video, the silver mustang in the center lane is this user's flickr account who took a few pictures of the accident right afterwards. If you watch the video again, the mustang driver mentions that the object that goes sliding in front of his car was the driver and not debris.

Maybe drunk..? Being drunk can have benefits when it comes to crashes - it makes your muscles relax. But then, because your blood is thin, if you bleed.. game over.

Anyway, I hate seeing people drive that fast.. makes me more sick to see people driving that fast in heavy rain conditions.

I first saw this on the Philip Defranco Show on YouTube - pretty amazing footage.

Expect this to be featured on those cop shows in 2020 :p

I agree that this kid is a douche for driving like this, but he doesn't deserve to lose his license forever. We give drunk drivers 3 or 4 chances, murderers often only serve 20-30 years, etc. In my opinion, it's not the speed that makes this type of thing dangerous, it's the weaving through traffic, darting back and forth, etc.

Say what you want, but I don't think that going 250 (155 mph for you AmeriFolk) down the 401 at 4:30 in the morning is that bad if you're all by yourself.

until you lose control, drill another car, and kill the people in it. you're never truly the only one on the road. there could be some innocent driver just around a corner.

i should have been more clear for those unfamiliar with the 401. the 401 is huge freeway that spans canada, it's 6 lanes wide at points and pretty much empty during the night. there aren't really any real corners, and you can always see what's in front of you. i think under those circumstances it should be okay to let lose.

that being said i don't really find going fast in a straight line anymore since i take my car to the track once or twice a week during the summer :p.

Dibs on the wheels!

1. The guy was a dumbass for passing on the shoulder, period. Let alone passing a police car on the shoulder. Let alone passing a police car on the shoulder at 100+ mph.
I'm curious as to why there was a trooper just cruising in the left lane without passing anybody. He wasn't catching up on he Mustang, so he really shouldn't have been there.
2. Either the guy's brake lights don't work, or he never even tried to slow down...

Oh he hit them.

AFTER he was airborne. I'm guessing he didn't see the culvert and wanted to correct it and get back on the road. Wasn't really going to work, because in part, he at worst had ****** too-worn all-season tires, or at beast had high-performance or better summer tires. Neither one is good on dirt.
