I have a white iPhone 3G and it's labeled as 16GB but the capacity in iTunes only shows 6.9GB, would anyone like to enlighten me as to why?

that's probably the free space, and you've got the rest filled up with music/video/apps. otherwise, I have no clue what's going on.

Does it say 6.9gb free? Go to your settings > general > about And it says Capacity and Available. If it does say 6.9 than you should restore and if that doesnt fix it than perhaps yours got labeled wrong.

No, it shows the total capacity as 6.9GB...

My 16GB IP4 only shows up a capicity of 14GB on itunes, I think this is down to the megabyte/1000 equation and the fact that some of it is taken up by the OS.

Currently I only have 0.96GB free

Try restoring it. Otherwise, bring it in to an apple store if that doesn't work.

Uhm, did it show more storage before you upgraded to 4.1? If it did, try restoring, if not take it to a store.

Restored it as a new phone (not from backup), and it still shows the exact same capacity. The back says [16GB]. That's it. No 3G(S) or anything like that... :l

You should really provide more information. Have you had this phone for a while, or did you just buy it? Did you buy it from Apple new or maybe refurbished? Did you buy it used? Where did you get this phone, and how long have you had it? Did it just recently start showing that amount of storage, or has it always showed that amount?

And in your original post, you said it was a 3G, and the backs of the iPhone cases won't say 3G or 3GS on them. The difference is that the 3GS backs have reflective letters.
