Just received a 3GS I bought off of Ebay. It will boot to either IOS 4.0 or Android 2.2. There are some droid flash games and wallpaper, etc. Pretty cool but other than flash capability is there any other benefit to having this OS on the phone? Are there risks of hardware damage? It doesn't run hot at all like 1.6 does (from what I've read). Thanks

are you sure you got a 3G(S) ? last i heard froyo would only run on 1st gen and 3G iPhones not 3G(S) or iPhone 4.

Positive.

Sorry but you must be mistaken. Installing the modified iBoot loader requires a bootrom exploit. Because only the old bootrom iPhone 3GS's have one the developers cannot install Android on them and they haven't tried to attempt to so far. So I have no idea what's going on with your phone

I checked the serial with apple, it has a slider for video, it has the compass, the buttons and back are correct for a 3GS and it has android 2.2 on it.

The guy I bought the phone from emailed me back and said he bought software from androidoniphone.

I don't care if you believe it. Would I be better off posting my question on a droid forum? If so could you recommend one? Thanks.
BTW, The guy i bought it from said he accidentally sent me the wrong phone and wants to replace it.

Yeah, I went to that website and it looks like BS which is why I didnt link to it.
I'd have to care if you believed me to go to the trouble of uploading a pic. No suggestions for a droid forum? Thanks.

So one isn't better than another, they all just parrot the same info you could find by googling like this forum?
I was hoping to find a forum where the real developers are, not the google geniuses that hang out here.:D

ETA
I emailed the seller and told him that website was a scam and know way he got this OS on a 3GS using it. He just replied with an offer to paypal me $100 and replace the phone if i will return it.

made a video. It should be up on youtube in about 30 minutes. When it shows up on google you should be able to find it.:)

What is your problem?

People are just disagreeing with you because it hasn't been possible to load Android on anything past an iPhone 3G. If you want to prove to them its real, then put a photo of it. If you don't put any proof, no one will believe you and you might as well just leave and not make threads like this again.

Stick to your guns.
Where is the photo/video of it in action?

This guy's a shill for the android site mentioned. Go away scammer.

The video is up. A thread discussing it is up to 6 pages long now on one of the droid forums.
I'm not a shill. That website is a scam like I said and naming it as the source was an attempt by the guy I got the phone from to downplay the phones significance.

So post a link to the video, or go away

Are you trying to make yourself 'popular' by posting lies? Anyway, I don't see the video. I bet you're going to say you sent the phone back, so no pictures. Aww.

Pigs might fly. Let this die.

That rhymes.

So, it is possible then? That is what you said right? They need a bootrom exploit, and some 3GSs (not all) have a bootrom exploit. So there's no reason why its *impossible* to have an iPhone 3GS running android. I guess I'm just confused by the rest of your statement.
