Yes and when AT&T announced the new blackberry that was gana be the iPhone 5. carriers have better things to do instead of begging apple for a phone that doesn't work on their network and is under contract with AT&T till 2012. You do know there were cell phones before 2007 right?

The HTC Droid Incredible HD is rumored to be announced this month before Thanksgiving. Could be that.

Verizon wants to sell as many phones as possible. iPhone + Droid = more total sales than just Droid.

They're certainly not going to delay releasing iPhone just to protect Droid sales.

Perhaps they are assuming...like I am...that if there is a Verizon iPhone and it's being released in Q1 that there's no way they would announce it before the holidays and kill holiday sales.
