Mac App Store will not load...

I installed 10.6.6 on my MacBook Pro 2.2 Santa Rosa model. Everything seems to have gone well until I tried to open the new mac app store. It bounces one time then nothing. I have rebooted a couple times and still nothing.
Anyone else having this issue? :confused:

I just got off the phone with several Apple techs. They are inspecting my Mac's profile and they are going to get back to me with their findings. Two hours of phone time and several attempted fixes has not corrected the problem.
I will report back when I know more.

If you are having this issue, call Apple support and insist to speak with a tech if you have no AppleCare coverage. It is a new problem so they can get an exception to help you at no charge. Thats what I did since my coverage ran out 4 months ago.
 
Same thing happening to me. I downloaded 10.6.6, when i try clicking the App Store icon, it bounces, a windows pops out saying "Loading" but it just hangs in there. It says "Connecting to iTunes Store" but it never connects. It just keeps loading.

I attached an image of the "Connecting" window.

Has anybody got a solution to this? Thanks!

Please post your machine specs as it may be helpful.
Apple asked for the forum addy so they could check in to see how many of us post with the same issue.
I see some of you can get it to start to load, mine will not even open up a window, it bounces the icon on the dock once and that's it.

So please post your specs, and call Apple support so they know there are others with the same issue, that way they can facilitate a fix for us.
 
i have a imac 21" and a macbook 13" , but the problem is in my macbook, i changed the hd recently due to malfunction. can you give me the number that you called so i can call too. thanks
 
My machine:

MacBook Pro 5,5
2.226Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB Ram
90GB OCZ Vertex2 SSD
It has 10.6.6 Installed

Hope this helps to find a solution...

I upgraded my HD as well, so im thinking it has to do something with that. Every friend of mine that just updated SL to 10.6 WITHOUT replacing or reformatting their HD's load the Mac App Store without a glitch.

I called this number...
U.S. iPod, Mac and iPad technical support: 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273)

But I think 1-800-MY-APPLE should work too. Remember if you are out of coverage, insist they help due to it being a new problem with the new release.
 
I called and they said that because my mb is from 2007 they cant help me!!!! :(
Im starting to think that it has something to do with the hd, but everything is working fine. Should i do a clean install to see if that fixes the problem?

Yeah, they tried that with me too since my affected machine is that old also. I insisted they attempt to fix it since it was caused by their newly released update. After getting past that, he had to contact a tier two tech who was very interested in the problem. They went as far as sending me a program that gathered my machines specs and info and transferred a file back to them for the techs to study. I am still awaiting a reply from them on their findings.
 
Have you: Repair permission / Verify disk / restarted?

Nope. Mine has an upgraded HD. I used Software Update to update.

WORKS FINE:
MBP 17" 2.4GHZ Santa Rosa, 4GB, 7200RPM 500GB

I don't think so. I have a MacBook pro with the app store working without a glitch. Yet, I have a MacBook that the app strore used to work until I reformatted the HD because a corrupt file after I installed something from the store and now it won't connect to the app store. If you ask me, it seems every one having trouble seems to have upgraded or reformatted the HD.

Nope, not the case. I have another co-worker that is using it problem-free (LOL he told me that I ain't missing much, but still).

I totally agree with you on this one. I think the Mac App store needs a file or something from a previously working or used iTunes (for example, previous purchases or iOS App downloads). Haven't checked that though.

Any other sugestions? In order for me to try that I would need to re-format (yet again, for like the 5th time!) purchase something with iTunes with the version of my SL disc, which is 10.6, then do the 10.6.6 update.
 
Hello all, somebody from Apple got back to me with the Mac App Store problem, here's what she said:

Hi,

Open a Finder window. Select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left. Now open the Library folder then the Cookies folder.

Move the *com.apple.appstore.plist* file from the Cookies folder to the Trash.

Restart your Mac.

I finally got the issue resolved. I have the Mac App Store Working. Here's what I did:

OK, first I reformatted my HD. The original Snow Leopard disc that I have is version 10.6. So once I installed 10.6, I went straight to iTunes, and hit update. That brought iTunes to version 10.1 (this is without updating SL). I opened iTunes, signed in the store and downloaded a free app. After the app download was done, closed iTunes then restarted the computer.

When back from restart, I ran the Software Update (to bring it to 10.6.6) and let it do it's thing. Once the download was complete and installed, I restarted once again (just to be safe). Then I finally clicked the Mac App Store icon and voila! Able to get in without problems!

yeap! this worked for me also. Mac app store running perfectly now on both Macs.
 
Glad to hear some of you have solved the issue. ;) My machine has to much on it to just reformat it.

I am wondering if a restore from Time Machine a month ago has anything to do with it?

Got a 2day old Mac book air .. Update and can't get the app store running..
I will try the format and reinstall..

Have you guys try downloading the COMBO update to 10.6.6? The COMBO update might fox your problem. Be warned though, it's over 1gig.

I tried this already. Made no difference.
It seems that you need to download an app from iTunes before updating to 10.6.6 to get rid of the bug/glitch. I even reinstalled osx 10.6 without erasing the disk then downloading an app and then updating, but it did not work.
Whatever is causing it will only get removed if you erase the disk.

I can recall that this advice was given by some iPhone hackers when installing certain jailbreak apps on iPhone and iPad. When I read the solution, it clicked in my head that this could work.
